Inspirational Leaders that inspire Us

Meet Cecilia Iliesiu

Originally from New York City, Cecilia built a 16-year career as a professional ballet dancer, rising to Principal Dancer at Pacific Northwest Ballet (PNB). She is also the founder of Global Ballet Teachers, a nonprofit spanning 470 educators across 51 countries committed to empowering others and expanding access to the arts.

Lasting Impact: Cecilia volunteered her time in coaching and mentoring local teachers and inspired many local girls from across Honduras.

Leave Behind: Hundreds of ballet slippers, shoes and uniforms donated by the Pacific Northwest Ballet and other suppliers. Since the visit, other volunteer dancers from the USA have continued educating girls and we’ve seen the development of studio space across a local schools and orphanage.

Meet coach elliot

Elliot is a former professional soccer player who is the Founder of Soccer Fun Camp. He is energetic, funny, approachable, and driven to share his love (and fun) of soccer with others.

Hearing the lack of soccer opportunities for girls in Honduras, Elliot volunteered his time to bring a fun week of soccer camps to the girls at the Mhotivo School in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

Lasting Impact: By incorporating school administrators and PE teachers, Elliot helped share how fun games and learning can help encourage girls to be more involved in sport.

Leave Behind: Soccer goals, balls, equipment, uniforms.
